Brain injury affects one in every 45 Australians, according to information released as part of Brain Injury Awareness Week, which runs from August 18 to 24.

That one in 45 includes me.

While brain injuries can come about from a range of circumstances, mine was due to being hit by a car at the age of eight in February, 1971.
