JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (WGEM) - Hours after being dismissed, one lawmaker said he’s not ready to leave the Missouri House chamber until he’s recognized by Republican leaders.
On the second day of Missouri’s special legislative session on redistricting and initiative petition reform, one Democratic lawmaker said he’ll stake out the Missouri House as long as it takes. Springfield Rep. Jeremy Dean’s motion for a roll call went ignored during Thursday’s technical session.
Dean’s complaint is that a quorum was not met. A quorum refers to the number of lawmakers required for the Missouri House to conduct business.
“Any business that’s done in the House of Representatives must be done under a quorum,” Dean said. “So, I will be sitting here until they gavel back in and read my motion, so if that t
