MARYSVILLE, Calif. —

Marysville City Hall, a historic building dating back to the 1930s, is receiving a fresh coat of paint at no cost to taxpayers, thanks to the generosity of a local company.

The building's age was clear. The cracks on the walls and chips in the paint were hard to miss.

"It was built during the time when the New Deal happened,” Dan Flores, community and economic director for the city of Marysville, said. "The building's been neglected for many years.”

City leaders have been working to fix it, but finding a way to fund the project was a challenge.

"We looked at the overall funding picture and were trying to figure out how we were going to make it work," Flores said.

Flores said bids for the paint job came in around $100,000 or more.
