Poldark star Aidan Turner has been announced as the latest cast member to join season three of The Diplomat .

While details of Aidan’s mysterious role are currently being kept under wraps, Deadline has reported that the Rivals actor is set to feature in a recurring guest role for the political drama’s third outing.

The casting news comes after The Handmaid’s Tale actor Bradley Whitford was also announced as a new addition to the season three cast in the role of Todd Penn, the husband of President Grace Penn, played by his former West Wing co-star Allison Janney .

Aidan and Bradley will join returning series regulars Keri Russell , Rufus Sewell , David Gyasi, Ali Ahn , Ato Essandoh and Rory Kinnear .
