The Saskatchewan Roughriders are pretty much stuck with embattled kicker Brett Lauther, hoping he returns to form before costing them a victory in the regular season or — heaven forbid! — the CFL playoffs.
Roughriders head coach Corey Mace, who speaks regularly about having his players meet a professional standard, was asked if Lauther’s performance this season met that standard.
“I think certainly in the totality of this season, no, not to his standard, not to our standard,” said Mace. “In the same breath, looking at everything he’s done and also different other circumstances, I thought he had a better day, you know, not the 100 per cent that everybody’s looking for.
