PIPESTEM, W.Va. (WV News) — Sen. Jim Justice, R-W.Va., celebrated the completion of a project started when he was governor, the reopening of the tramway at Pipestem Resort State Park.
The $12.4 million project saw the complete replacement of the tram that first opened in 1971 and carried countless visitors more than 3,000 feet into the Bluestone Gorge.
"We as West Virginians pride ourselves on the beautiful nature of our state and our world-class outdoor tourism — from hiking to fishing to everything in between," Justice said. "I am very excited to see the $12.4 million investment I made as governor in the Pipestem Resort State Park and its tramway reopen just in time for the fall foliage season."
