HAZELTON, N.D. — A 50-year-old man was killed Thursday, Sept. 4, in a central North Dakota crash

According to a release from the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 7 p.m. Thursday when a 2003 Pontiac Montana was southbound on First Avenue Southeast in Hazelton. At the intersection with 61st Street Southeast, the vehicle failed to negotiate a left turn, the release said. The Pontiac entered the south ditch and hit a tree. The driver, of Menoken, died at the scene.

The Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash, the release said. The Emmons County Sheriff's Office, Hazelton Rural Fire and Linton Ambulance also responded to the crash.

Hazelton is 30 miles southeast of Bismarck.
