PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- As the federal government attempts to pull back COVID-19 vaccine recommendations, the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) announced the issuing of a standing order on Friday, as a way to make it easier for the state's residents to get vaccinated.

According to the DOH, the new order covers everyone 6 months and older - including pregnant people - and acts in lieu of a prescription, allowing most residents to go directly to a pharmacy or clinic in Washington to receive the COVID vaccine.
