CANORA - The Canora & District Fire Department received a fire call at around 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 27.

The fire was in a house at 136 Evelee Avenue, and the back half of the house was fully engulfed in flames when fire department members arrived on-scene, according to Jess Harper, Canora fire chief.

“We got there, got the hoses hooked up, and two firefighters were on the hoses,” said Harper. “We got the fire knocked down, but not before it got into the attic, where there was wood chip insulation.”

“Thankfully, no one was in the house at the time of the fire, so no one was hurt.”

Firefighters were on-scene for about three-and-a-half hours.

“The house is a total loss, but there was no other property damage in the fire.”
