PHOENIX — Phoenix police need help identifying the person who violently assaulted a woman, sending her to a hospital in critical condition.
The sexual assault took place in the early morning hours of Aug. 14 near 44th and Oak streets and resulted in a woman sustaining severe injuries. She was taken to the hospital and is now recovering from her injuries.
The attack appears to be a random act of violence, and police have no physical description of the suspect.
"Anything they heard or saw out of the ordinary," Lt. Casey Tornberg said. "This appears random at this time."
Tornberg is with the Phoenix Police Department's Adult Sex Crimes Unit and said police are searching the neighborhood, speaking with people, trying to figure out what exactly happened.
