Today, Red Deer City Council passed a resolution regarding Emergency Services.

Alongside this, City Manager Tara Lodewyk and Mayor Johnston have released a public letter, which is now posted to the City’s website.

The letter addressed to Red Deerians, says that The City is not compromising public safety, and that emergency response time is still within the established target of arriving within 10 minutes, 90% of the time for all reported structure fires.

The International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Local 1190, says that they are understaffed and Red Deer residents are being put in danger due to the lack of fire fighters. They are asking for Council to put four firefighters on every truck, for every call.
