GREENVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) - A Greenville man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for killing a man during a home invasion in January 2022.
25-year-old Tyberious Rahkeem Pyles was arrested in May 2022 for the home invasion and death of 27-year-old Joseph Smith.
The shooting happened at the Cliffwood Terrace Apartments around 3:30 a.m., on January 22, 2022.
Evidence at trial showed that Pyles had entered the apartment beforehand to confirm Smith was asleep. During the robbery, Smith was held at gunpoint, forced into an upstairs bedroom, and shot twice, according to the 13th Circuit Solicitor's Office.
Pyles was convicted of murder, first degree murder, armed robbery and conspiracy. He was sentenced to 40 years in the South Carolina Department of Corrections.
