A woman was seriously injured after being thrown out of her vehicle in Chester.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were called Wednesday shortly after 11:30 p.m. to the area of the 800 block of West Second Street in response to a motor vehicle accident.

Police arrived to find a single-vehicle accident involving a red Ford Fusion. Radio traffic showed that the car had hit a utility police.

The female operator had been ejected from the vehicle and was found to be suffering from a severe head injury, including a laceration across her head.

She was transported by ambulance to a Philadelphia hospital for emergency treatment. According to fire radio traffic, the availability of a medical helicopter was checked.
