FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - April Tinsley’s family is planning to honor her with a balloon release on Saturday after John D. Miller, her killer, died this week.
The balloon release is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sept. 6.
It is open to the public, and those who wish to attend are encouraged to bring a balloon to release and a flower to add to April’s Garden, located near the intersection of Hoagland and Masterson Avenues, where the memorial is being held.
In 2018, Miller was convicted and sentenced to 80 years in prison for raping and murdering Tinsley in 1988. An Indiana Department of Correction spokesperson confirmed he died at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
