ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WSPA) - Asheville Police Chief, Michael "Mike" Lamb, has announced plans to retire later this year.
According to a spokesperson with the Asheville Police Department, Lamb announced the decision Friday, September 5.
An official retirement date has not been determined.
Lamb began working with the Asheville Police Department in Feburary 1998. He served as an officer with the department for more than 25 years before rising through the ranks as Sergeant, Lieutentant, Captain, and Deputy Chief.
Lamb also served as an instructor in Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET), Physical Training, and De-escalation. He was also member of the the department's Emergency Response Team for 20 years, including nine years as team commander.
