GRAND LEDGE — Grand Ledge senior Avi Skinner took a big leap last season in all three of the varsity-level sports she plays.

Skinner became an all-state member in cross country, qualified for states in track and field, and was voted by her basketball teammates as Offensive Player of the Year.

Skinner, who was voted the One North LSJ high school girls athlete of the week winner, was the top Greater Lansing finisher in the large school portion of the Saranac Invite on Aug. 27, the first big cross country invite of the season. She placed fifth with a time of 19:00.4 in her season debut — a time ranks in the top five in the area so far this season while still being 46 seconds off her personal best.
