MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Congressman Bryan Steil is looking to increase accountability and oversight with the Milwaukee County Transit System.

This comes after reports of MCTS losing roughly $4 million in revenue last year due to people not paying to ride the bus.

Congressman Steil wrote to Department of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy about the issue Friday, Sept. 5, according to a press release.

In a statement, Steil said in part, "Fare evasion not only pushes MCTS toward insolvency, but it is fundamentally unfair to the hardworking families who rely on public transportation, follow the rules, and pay their fares."
