PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Two-term Oregon State Representative Cyrus Javadi announced his decision to change his political party affiliation on Friday -- joining the House Democratic supermajority.
In his announcement, the office of Rep. Javadi (House District 32 - Tillamook) emphasized that the lawmaker is putting his allegiance toward his constituents over "partisan politics," but will remain “an independent voice for the North Coast in Salem.”
The affiliation change was in advance of Thursday’s deadline for incumbent candidates running for re-election to file with the major party of their choice.
“Being an elected leader has never been about party loyalty to me, it’s been about how I can best fight for our community and our state. Like the vast majority of my constituents, I support ou
