Gentry Williams back in action

In the first quarter of Oklahoma’s season-opening win over Illinois State, Gentry Williams sniffed out Tommy Rittenhouse’s pass to Daniel Sobkowicz in the flat.

Williams lurched forward and laid the wood on the receiver for a five-yard loss.

“I needed that for me personally,” Williams said. “I felt like that was a lot of hard work that I put in. Being able to have that moment again, feeling that adrenaline rush again, man, it speaks volumes.”

Against Illinois State, Williams played more snaps than he did the entirety of last season. He was on the shelf for almost all of 2024 after hurting his shoulder in the Week 2 Houston game.
