QUINCY (WGEM) - The St. Francis Catholic Church was filled with student athletes from Quincy University on Thursday evening.

Student athletes, coaches, and representatives of QU gathered for the Blessing of the Athletes. Blessing of the Athletes is a yearly tradition where all those in attendance receive blessings from the parish, and recite prayers and Scripture readings.

Following a speech from Athletic Director Josh Rabe, head coaches of each program were directed to the altar where they received a candle, to return to their athletes and light the candles of each athlete.
