NILES, Ohio (WKBN) - Jim Tressel was nominated by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine to serve as lieutenant governor back in February. He's never been a candidate for any office.
WKBN 27 First News asked Tressel during a visit to Niles Friday if he is still considering a run for governor in 2026.
"You know, the only thoughts I have today are running to the next school to worry about fitness. Today is Friday, we're going to have a great Friday, and we will worry about the future after that," Tressel said.
If Tressel ran for governor, it would be on the Republican ticket. The party has already endorsed former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, who is also endorsed by President Donald Trump.
