GAITHERSBURG, Md. – A Montgomery County woman who has played the lottery for 30 years finally landed a top prize this week, taking home $77,000 from a scratch-off ticket.

The longtime player visited Maryland Lottery headquarters Thursday with her daughter to claim the win from the $10 Lucky 7s Multiplier game. She purchased the ticket at Brighton Beer & Wine on Muddy Branch Road in Gaithersburg, a retailer she has frequented for years.

She said she was drawn to the game’s “bright, bold colors,” but noted she regularly plays all Lottery games. After scratching the ticket at home, she was so stunned by the result that she asked her daughter to verify the prize through the Maryland Lottery app.
