Dearborn Heights Police Department posted a design for a police badge option similar to its current design with the addition of Arabic translations for the English words.

The department deleted the post, and Mayor Bill Bazzi said the idea for a badge shouldn't have been presented as an official protype.

The Dearborn Heights Police Department gained national attention after sharing a police patch design with the logo in both English and Arabic on its social media pages.

The patch design, similar to the department's current patch with additional Arabic translations below the English words, was posted on Wednesday, Sept. 3.
