The driver of the Cleveland ISD bus that crashed on Aug. 13 , carrying nearly 60 students, was "distracted" and possibly driving too fast, according to a TxDOT crash report obtained by Houston Public Media.

The 21-year-old driver of the bus "alleged he was distracted on the bus and failed to maintain a single lane." The bus then "left the roadway striking the embankment," and the driver "overcorrected and rolled landing onto the passenger’s right side."

The investigator who completed the crash report also indicated that "unsafe speed" may have contributed to the crash, but did not list it as a definitive cause.

All 58 students on board were transported to local hospitals for medical evaluations.
