A horse has died after being involved in a fall at Ascot . ‌

Excellent Echo was being ridden by champion jockey Oisin Murphy when it came down during a race earlier today. ‌

Nordic Norm, being ridden b Sam James also hit the ground during the Sodexo Live! Handicap . ‌

There was one furlong left of the seven furlong race, The Mirror reports.

Murphy was on his feet quickly but Excellent Echo suffered a broken leg.

The horse made the best of his way up the track before he was caught by his handler near the winning post. ‌

Black screens were erected around the Dominic French Davis-trained three-year-old for privacy.

A horse ambulance was also on the scene while vets attended to him.
