PEORIA, Ill. – Illinois State Police has released bodycam footage relating to a fatal officer involved shooting in Peoria’s East Bluff last month.

The footage comes from an incident on August 5th where 41-year-old Brandon Lewis died. An autopsy revealed he died from an injury suffered by a single gunshot wound.

The footage from state police shows one of the officers talking to Lewis, saying he was being taken into custody for public urination. Lewis was repeatedly questioning why he was being arrested while armed with a bat.

Lewis then reportedly swung the bat at the officers and hit one, with that police officer taking out his firearm and shot Lewis.
