ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – September is National Emergency Preparedness Month. The campaign educates people on how to prepare to respond to disasters and emergencies. A new weather interpretation class at UAlbany has helped emergency managers do just that.

The New York State Weather Risk Communication Center at UAlbany works closely with the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services. They’ve developed a class to help emergency managers, across the state, better understand the complex weather data they receive.

The class is called “Introduction to Weather Interpretation”. Michael Michaud is a risk communication scientist and he’s developed and facilitated the class.
