TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — This year marks 24 years since the September 11th attacks. Folks across Tampa Bay continue to honor those whose lives were lost on that fateful day with various commemorative events.
Hillsborough County
Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, Hillsborough County Consumer and Veteran Services, and the Veterans Council of Hillsborough County are hosting their annual Patriot Day and 9/11 Remembrance event. There will be an honor guard, saber team, rifle salute, and a solemn escort of the beam, which is a 135-pound section of steel salvaged from New York's Twin Towers. The event will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park & Rear Admiral LeRoy Collins, Jr. Museum located at 3602 N. U.S. Highway 301.
