ALLEGAN COUNTY, Mich. — For Dave Greydanus, policing began nearly 40 years ago. What started as a childhood inspiration turned into not just a lifelong career, but a family legacy.
“I’ve been a police officer for 38 years now," said Dave. "I got interested as a young child at our church; we had a state trooper that was there, and I looked up to him."
That admiration stuck. Dave went on to serve with the Michigan State Police before retiring and joining the Douglas Police Department. Along the way, he brought pieces of the job home to his kids.
“They grew up learning how to ride their bicycles at the State Police Training Academy," said Dave. "I think that was kind of a way that maybe got them excited about it."
