SAN ANGELO The UTPB volleyball team began the 2025 season with two consecutive losses Friday at the Kathleen Brasfield Invitational.

The Falcons began the day with a loss in three sets to Adams State before losing in five sets to Southern Nazarene.

Adams State won the first game by scores of 25-22, 26-24 and 33-31.

UTPB’s Ashlee Macias led the team in kills with 23 while Lauren Demuth had 10.

Southern Nazarene defeated the Falcons by scores of 25-17, 15-25, 25-27, 25-23 and 15-13.

In the second game, Nickilah Whatley led the Falcons with 16 kills while Macias had 15.

UTPB will be back on the court Saturday to finish up the invitational.

The Falcons will face Colorado Mesa at 1 p.m. before finishing against Arkansas-Monticello at 5:30 p.m.
