SWANVILLE, Maine (WABI) - So far this year, more than 250,000 people have officially become United States citizens through naturalization. Those numbers include a beloved woman in Waldo County.

Flordeluna means “moon flower.” It’s a fitting name for a woman who brings joy to people every day.

“‘Hello darling’ is Flo’s phrase, and you can hear it from across the store. And she says it to everybody,” said Amanda Rankin, owner/operator, Wentworth Family Grocery.

For the past six years, customers at the Wentworth Family Grocery store in Swanville have checked out with a little bit more than what they came in for.

“When Flora is here, she brightens your day, and she’s just always smiling and so pleasant. And she’s amazing. Like, I can’t imagine Swan Lake Grocery now without her,” said Lisa
