WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — In just 24 hours, Jerrica Scott’ s path took an unexpected turn.
The Hanes Magnet assistant principal is one of more than 300 Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools employees whose positions are being eliminated due to a $46 million budget shortfall. When we first spoke with Scott a week ago, she was preparing for one of the hardest journeys of her life.
“It’s just a light at the end of the tunnel, a long, dark, sad tunnel,” she recalled with a laugh. “But there is light.”
