OMAHA, Neb. —
"Starting in 2028, you'll see construction begin on a new pedestrian, protected bike way that will travel along Emile Street from the east to the west, linking the Field Club Trail to the New Edge District ," UNMC's executive director of planning, design and construction, Chad Kruse, said.
Protected means there will be a specific bike lane separate from the pedestrian path.
"This particular project just further helps link midtown to downtown in just about every direction in and around campus," Kruse said.
Bike path-specific construction has not started at UNMC yet. Kruse said that right now, contracting for design services is in the works.
In 2028, construction will start. It should be completed sometime during 2029.
