This year, Billings' first frost is coming early.

Local audiences get to be one of the first nationwide to experience the magic of the musical adaptation of Disney's megahit animated feature "Frozen." Billings Studio Theatre is kicking off its 73rd season of stage productions with the limited prerelease being performed through Sept. 28.

Rights to The Broadway Musical production of “Frozen” has not yet been released to the general public, said BST Managing Director Nancy Wollenburg. Music Theatre International (MTI) invited BST to apply for “Frozen” production rights in a selective release.

“They invited certain theaters around the country to produce 'Frozen' first. We were one of the first theaters in our area to be able to produce this show,” she said.
