The fall garden is a perfect time for planting herbs. And, some herbs that thrive in south Texas are especially nice in floral bouquets, especially basils. So, whether you are planting a fall vegetable garden, or not, plan on planting several basils that can add color, fragrance, or foliage interest to your flower bouquets.
Many of the culinary herbs that we use come from the Mediterranean area, so they are already adapted to hot, dry climates and have no problem being planted in our warm fall season. Basils will require well drained soils to thrive.
