Authorities have made 17 arrests and seized $1.5 million worth of steroids as part of a six-month investigation into an alleged "national black market".
Since February, police and Australian Border Force (ABF) officials have been investigating Queensland-based criminal syndicates' importation of performance-enhancing drugs.
As part of that operation, codenamed UMBRAL2025, authorities executed multiple search warrants across the state's south-east.
They say they have also seized half a million dollars in alleged criminal assets like cash, vehicles and drug-manufacturing equipment.
Mail under scrutiny
It is alleged the groups were using the international mail system to import the drugs, with multiple packages intended for various locations across Queensland seized between February and J
