Turtle Tracker: City of Cockburn providing information sessions to learn how to protect local wildlife

Turtles may be slow but nature lovers are being called on to help keep track of them.

Training sessions to show people how to help out local turtles will be presented by the City of Cockburn over the next week.

Turtle Tracker volunteers Brian and Janet Bell, of Atwell began volunteering their services as Turtle Trackers about four years ago.

They have also been regular volunteers with Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions native animal surveys for about 14 years.

The pair said the satisfaction of learning the correct way to safeguard the local reptiles while they were at their most vulnerable was “highly satisfying”.

“These turtles were here long before us and we all live in their environment, so it’s a guaranteed ‘warm fuzzy’ for us to help them thrive in the habit
