KEOKUK (WGEM) - A Keokuk man was sentenced to 20 years in the Iowa Department of Corrections on Friday after being found guilty on two counts of sexual abuse.

The Lee County Attorney’s Office reports Jeffrey L. McKay, 54, was arrested in February 2024 after allegations he committed sexual abuse to a minor relative.

They said the reported abuse happened from June 1, 2021, through Aug. 31, 2021, and from Jan. 19, 2024, through Feb. 1, 2024.

After a June 6 bench trial, McKay was found guilty of two counts of sexual abuse in the third degree.

On Friday, a judge sentenced McKay to the maximum of 20 years.

The Lee County Attorney’s Office said McKay is also subject to a lifetime special sentence and sex offender registration requirements.
