LA GRANGE, Ky. —

A new documentary premiering Friday at the Sauerbeck Family Drive-In celebrates the life and legacy of 14-year-old Wyatt Eddy, whose organ donations saved six lives after a tragic surfing incident near his family’s home in Torrance, California.

“Wyatt was a great kid, a great student. He was wise beyond his years,” his mother, Wendy Eddy, said. “He would have given the shirt off his back to anyone. So it doesn’t surprise me at all that he was able to live on in this way and save so many lives.”

Originally from Cadiz, Kentucky, Wyatt dreamed big. At the center of the " Heart of the Motor ," film is his beloved 1966 Ford pickup — nicknamed “Elmer” — which he was restoring to be his first car.
