Virgin Australia has officially taken delivery of the first Embraer E190-E2 to operate in Australia, marking a significant milestone both for the airline and for the country’s aviation industry. The aircraft, leased from Azorra, represents a new direction for Virgin Australia as it seeks to modernize its fleet and expand service to markets better suited for smaller, more efficient jets.
The E190-E2, an updated derivative of Embraer's successful E190, and these planes will be operated by Virgin Australia Regional Airlines. The intent is to slot underneath the carrier's mainline Boeing 737 aircraft, and serve smaller markets while still providing the same onboard comfort as a 737. The Embraer E190-E2 is positioned to serve a major role in Virgin Australia's strategy moving forward.
