SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. -- A man was arrested for a hit and run crash following a welfare check in Spokane Valley.

According to the Spokane County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the welfare check near the intersection of Progress Road and 16th Avenue around 11:45 p.m. on Thursday.

Callers reported an SUV stopped in the road with the driver slumped over the steering wheel. SCSO said shortly after, the SUV was involved in a crash near Progress Road and 19th Avenue where the driver slammed into a parked truck before driving away.

Deputies contacted the owner of the parked truck, who said it was a work vehicle.

A third caller reported that the SUV was stopped in the middle of the road at Pines and 32nd Avenue. The caller said the front of the SUV was damaged and the driver was slump
