ROCKFORD, Ill. (WREX) — On Friday, a Rockford Police Department School Resource Officer (SRO) at Guilford High School received a report that a car was circling the school, and someone inside the car was seen waving a handgun. The SRO quickly responded to the parking lot, when the car drove off.

A short time later, two other SROs found the car with two people near Alpine Road and East State Street. Officers recovered a loaded handgun from the passenger, identified as Jazairon Flanagan.

After a review of the facts of the case, the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office authorized the charges below. Flanagan is being held in the County Jail.
