SCHENECTADY — With some big fourth-quarter plays when they needed them most, the Schenectady Patriots defeated Mohonasen 12-6 Friday night in the high school football season opener at Larry Mulvaney Field. It was the Patriots’ first win since Sept. 9, 2023 — having gone 0-10 last season — when they defeated Albany 26-12.
With the game tied at 6, Schenectady had a number of players step up. Robert Jackson and Xzavion Jones shared a quarterback sack that brought Mohonasen back to its own 5-yard line. Two plays later, Schenectady started its game-winning drive on Mohonasen’s 30.
