BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- It's Week 3 of the 2025 season. Thursday already included some big wins for local schools. Bakersfield, Kennedy and Tehachapi already added a W to their season.

On Friday, one of the games with the most interest in Bakersfield will be Independence vs. Centennial.

Centennial football coach Richard Starrett will look to get his team into the win column on Friday against Independence -- a team with a 2-0 start.

Starrett said it comes with the territory of being a top program.

"When you're a Division 1 program and you play other Division 1 teams early in the year, you're going to get tested," Starrett said.
