Police in Sandy Springs and Atlanta are investigating a series of hoax threats at local hospitals that brought out a heavy police presence on Friday night. According to Atlanta News First, Northside Hospital received a swatting call Friday night just after 8 p.m. of an active shooter inside the Sandy Springs medical facility. Police later dismissed it as a hoax.
A short time later, both Emory Hospital and Emory Hospital Midtown were the subject of bomb hoax threats.
The hoaxes come exactly one week after a series of hoax active shooter calls at the University of Georgia, West Georgia College, and Clark Atlanta University put the campuses in lockdown. The FBI and GBI are still investigating those incidents.
