FLAGSTAFF, AZ (AZFamily) — Memories of our lives and loved ones are things we all cherish but often take for granted. So, what happens when the memories fade?

One resident at The Bluffs of Flagstaff senior living community can relive his life through his book.

Everyday life looks a little different for 95-year-old Stanley Bues now that he has dementia.

According to the National Institute of Health , about 6 million Americans suffer from dementia, which causes memory loss and, in some cases, death.

Stanley’s daughter, Rebecca Cardon, said he used to be one of the top geologists studying the Grand Canyon and a professor at NAU.

“He was considered one of the living experts on the Grand Canyon,” Cardon said. “My mom always said that was his first love. She was his second.”
