Hoover won the statistical battle in the Class 7A, Region 3 opener against Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa, but the Patriots made the most of their attack in a 34-26 upset of the third-ranked Bucs at the Hoover Met on Friday.

Hillcrest jumped out to a 21-3 lead in the first quarter as Jacobi Harris scored on runs of 5, 8 and 2 yards.
