Life without Jonathan Dartez has proven to be difficult so far for Vermilion Catholic football.

The reigning LHSAA Select DIV champs hosted fellow DIII state champs Catholic-New Iberia in Week 1 of the 2025 season and were gobsmacked by the Panthers. Both teams entered the matchup locked in, aiming to get their back-to-back campaigns off on the right foot and the Panthers did just that with a 20-0 shutout victory.

Thus ending VC’s winning streak from last year’s perfect season.
