A decade ago, Penn State announced a different game would take place this Saturday.

Just a few things have changed in the college football since January 2015. The least of which being that the Nittany Lions were, at one time, supposed to be hosting Virginia Tech on Sept. 6, 2025, at Beaver Stadium.

The main reason that the Lions will instead be playing FIU is that they never got to play the first game of the scheduled home-and-home series. The pandemic wiped out Penn State’s visit to Blacksburg that was supposed to be in September 2020. A year later, and the Hokies’ return trip was canceled as well.
