It’s hard to impress a fan base that has come to expect double-digit wins and consistently explosive performances. But the stars of the Saraland Spartans lived up to the lofty expectations Friday night in a 43-14 win over Gulf Shores.
Junior quarterback Jamison Roberts, a first-year starter, had the most impressive performance of his young career. He accounted for 349 total yards, completing 17 of 21 passes for 269 yards plus 80 rushing yards on seven carries. He passed for three scores (on plays that covered 29, 23 and 51 yards) and ran for two more on carries of 22 and 50 yards.
